Bouldering in the Lights: Paulie Abissi boulders Shadow Boxer at Cooper’s Rock

The Shadow Boxer boulder sits in a cave just off the approach trail in the Tilted Tree Corridor. Many consider the steep and powerful problem a classic in the area. The problem starts at the sloping arête and moves up the proud overhanging face, finishing around the nearby slab.

Paulie and I were well into our trip at Cooper’s Rock State Forest by the time we shot Shadow Boxer. We had our system down. Around 4pm we walked out to Tilted Tree Corridor and dropped off our pads. Around 5pm we setup the shot. All that was left to do was wait for the light and then send. Paulie took a few burns on the start to warmup then sent. To make sure we got the shot he sent a couple more times. Like butter.
